Shooting Ground Terms & Conditions

Important information for all shooters and visitors

SAFETY REQUIREMENTS

Safety is our paramount concern. All shooters and visitors must comply with the following safety requirements at all times:

  • All firearms must be kept unloaded and secured in gun slips when not in use on the shooting stand
  • Guns must only be loaded when you are on the shooting stand and ready to shoot
  • Always keep the gun pointed in a safe direction - towards the shooting area only
  • Ear and eye protection must be worn at all times on the shooting ground
  • No alcohol or drugs are permitted before or during shooting activities
  • Anyone found under the influence will be asked to leave immediately with no refund

Failure to comply with safety requirements will result in immediate removal from the premises without refund.

AGE RESTRICTIONS & SUPERVISION

  • Clay Pigeon Shooting: Minimum age 14 years
  • Air Rifle Range: Minimum age 8 years
  • All junior shooters (under 18) must be supervised by a responsible adult age 21 and over at all times
  • Juniors must be physically capable of handling the firearm safely
  • Photo ID may be required to verify age

SHOTGUN & FIREARM CERTIFICATES

Visitors are welcome to shoot at North of England Clay Target Centre under the following conditions:

  • Shotgun Certificate holders must present valid certificates before shooting
  • Non-certificate holders may shoot under our staff supervision (subject to availability and additional charges)
  • All borrowed guns must be returned in the same condition as issued
  • Air rifles not exceeding 12 ft/lbs do not require a firearms certificate but must be used responsibly
  • Proof of age and identity may be requested

MEMBERSHIP

Membership of North of England Clay Target Centre is open to all responsible shooters who agree to abide by club rules.

  • Annual membership fees are non-refundable
  • Members receive discounted clay prices and range access
  • Membership cards must be presented to receive member rates
  • Members must sign in on arrival
  • The club reserves the right to refuse or revoke membership at its discretion
  • Members are responsible for the conduct of their guests

RANGE RULES & ETIQUETTE

  • Report to the clubhouse on arrival and sign in
  • Wait for instruction from range officers before proceeding to shooting stands
  • Empty cartridge cases must be collected and disposed of properly
  • Dogs must be kept on leads at all times and under control
  • Respect other shooters - no loud or disruptive behavior
  • Mobile phones should be on silent mode
  • Follow all instructions from club officials and range officers immediately
  • Report any unsafe practices or damaged equipment to club officials immediately

BOOKINGS & PAYMENTS

For organized shoots, corporate events, and lessons:

  • Bookings must be made in advance by phone or email
  • A deposit may be required to secure your booking
  • Payment for clays and cartridges is due on the day of shooting
  • We accept cash and card payments
  • Prices are subject to change - current prices apply on the day of shooting

Cancellation Policy:

  • Deposits are non-refundable
  • In the event of a cancellation with more than 31 days notice, full payment can be transferred to another date
  • Cancellations within 31 days are non-refundable

WEATHER CONDITIONS

Clay pigeon shooting is an outdoor sport and takes place in all reasonable weather conditions. We only cancel in extreme circumstances where safety is compromised.

Visitors are advised to dress appropriately for outdoor activity and bring waterproof clothing if rain is forecast. The club is not responsible for discomfort due to weather conditions.

LIABILITY & INSURANCE

North of England Clay Target Centre maintains comprehensive public liability insurance. However:

  • Shooting is undertaken entirely at the participant's own risk
  • The club accepts no liability for injury, loss, or damage except where caused by negligence
  • All participants must ensure they have appropriate personal accident insurance
  • Members are strongly advised to take out personal liability insurance
  • The club is not responsible for loss or theft of personal property
  • Vehicles are parked at owner's risk

CONDUCT & DISCIPLINARY

All visitors and members are expected to conduct themselves responsibly and courteously:

  • Aggressive, abusive, or threatening behavior will not be tolerated
  • Damage to club property must be reported and paid for
  • Persistent rule-breaking may result in bans from the premises
  • The club committee's decision on disciplinary matters is final

AIR RIFLE RANGE SPECIFIC RULES

Additional rules apply to the indoor air rifle range:

  • Maximum power limit: 12 ft/lbs (no license required)
  • Only .177 and .22 caliber air rifles are permitted
  • Lead pellets only - no steel pellets
  • Rifles must be chronographed if power is in doubt
  • All rifles must be handled with the same care as firearms
  • No dry firing without pellets
  • Maximum 12 shooters on the range at any time
  • Booking in advance is strongly recommended

ENVIRONMENTAL RESPONSIBILITY

We are committed to environmental stewardship:

  • Biodegradable clays are used where possible
  • Please use designated waste bins
  • Do not leave litter on the grounds
  • Respect the countryside and local wildlife

DATA PROTECTION

We collect and store personal information in accordance with GDPR regulations. Your information will only be used for membership management, booking purposes, and club communications (if you have opted in). We will never share your information with third parties without your consent. For certificate holders, we are required to maintain records for compliance purposes.
